Accessing Mental Health Emergency Support When you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, knowing who to call can make all the difference. This page helps you navigate how to access mental health response teams, often referred to as “mental health cars”, available in your area.
Is it an emergency?
Yes – Call 911 immediately. No – Call your local police department’s non-emergency (see our list below) and tell them it’s a mental health emergency . If your community has a specific car (i.e. Car 87 in Vancouver) then ask for that. If not, then ask for a MICR team (Mobile Integrated Crisis Response).
