Diamonds from Despair: An anthology of poetry by people associated with schizophrenia
The Schizophrenia Fellowship of South Queensland Inc.
This wee little book contains poems by various writers, one being the artist whose pen and ink drawings illuminate these pages. Thematic chapters focus upon nature, family, society and the personal. A short preface explains schizophrenia and that schizophrenics are often creative. The writings help give the reader a glimpse into the mysterious reality of schizophrenia. One sees an appreciation of the bush, outback and reef. I have bipolar so schizophrenia represents an unknown experience to me, but I can immediately relate to the natural world around me.

The Candle, by David Parker
The candle burns
Flickering a light of love
And hope not yet lost
Shining within the dim of reality
In my heart the softness
Melts away in weakness
Tickling wax into a pool
At the foot of a tower of strength
