The Little Book of Thanks: A Gift of Joy & Appreciation
By Anne Rogers Smyth
This is one of the numerous and highly varied books by National Geographic, renowned for its venerable magazine and TV programs.
A tiny little book of verses that would obviously appeal to children but could amuse adults, with cute photos of animals and sayings to match. There is also an informative paragraph to describe each animal of what they’re doing.
Examples of the animals include the great dane, sea lion, alpaca, puffin, tiger, fan worm, fruit bat, cuttlefish and aardvark.
With a peanut-chomping chipmunk, it says “Thank you for making life one big treat”
A gorilla picks up a small leaf with the words “Thank you for noticing the small things:
And a chameleon comes with the proclaimation of: “Thank you for understanding my changing moods”
In a bookcase full of detailed psychiatric knowledge, personal case stories, mental health policy and coping strategies for families, this book really stands out for its lighthearted inspiration and dazzling colours!
