COVID-19 Response: We Need Your Help

Donate Now

This global pandemic affects people from all walks of life, but especially those with a mental illness or those who have a loved one with a mental illness.

Pathways provides personal support, education, advocacy and information programs on major mental illnesses — schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, borderline personality disorder, concurrent disorders, and anxiety disorders. Pathways has introduced new programs in response to COVID-19 to ensure we can still serve a community that needs our support during these difficult times.

Due to COVID-19, stress levels are heightened; people are experiencing fear and anxiety. Our family members need our support even more.  Our support groups can be a lifeline to our special community.

COVID-19 forced the cancellation of Pathways one and only annual public fundraiser, the Circle of Strength which raises $50,000 in donations for essential programming for the year.

As our in-person services are now in high demand, Pathways is adapting to maintain services to our community of parents, children and family members who have a loved one with a serious mental illness in isolation or quarantine. We are now offering our free support programs online.

In place of the Circle of Strength fundraiser, we are appealing to you for donations to reach more people in need through our online and telephone support services throughout all of British Columbia and beyond.

Your support today will make the world of a difference for someone tomorrow.

Our new online programming includes the following services:

One-to-one support
Pathways is offering support through email, phone or video conferencing sessions, with our volunteer family support team and support coordinator. We know the importance of checking in with you and your family and we want to ensure that if you require any additional support, we will be there to help.

Support Groups
Pathways is hosting weekly video conference support groups. We are hosting three daytime support groups and one evening support group. Please visit our website for dates and times.

Family-to-Family Education Course
Community members from the lower mainland are registered to take our Spring Family-to-Family course. The Family-to-Family curriculum covers most aspects of serious mental illness and its treatment, plus how best to deal with the challenges of having a loved one stricken by the illness. Participants learn to solve problems, communicate effectively, handle negative feelings, help their ill family member recover, and advocate for both families and their ill relatives.

Pathways will be facilitating the Family-to-Family course online, please call us if you would like to register.

During a global pandemic, support services are needed more than ever. Our volunteer backed charity is trying to meet demands for support. Your donations today will be directly funding our new online education and support programs and helping the families of those with a serious mental illness cope through these trying times.
