What does one-on-one support involve?

Our Support Coordinator can help you directly as well as put you in contact with one of our dedicated team of trained Family Peer Support Volunteers. Peer support draws on the shared lived experiences of caring for a loved one with a serious mental illness and the practical expertise and knowledge that has been picked up along the way.

Who is one-on-one support for?

Families, significant others, and friends of a loved one with a serious mental illness, including anxiety disorders, PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, borderline personality disorder, concurrent disorders, and schizophrenia.

What support do we provide?

We provide guidance and information on:

– how to access treatment
– helping your loved one in crisis
– navigating the B.C. mental health system
– effective communication skills
– understanding mental illness
– setting boundaries and other coping skills
– effective communication skills
